In December 2022, the average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $4,938 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 0.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,148 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices from Saudi Arabia ($5,154 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($4,970 per ton), while the price for Bahrain ($4,518 per ton) and China ($4,941 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $4,051 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 9.3%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the United States ($4,217 per ton) and Lebanon ($4,154 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($3,640 per ton) and Egypt ($3,651 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
