In March 2024, the average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $3,746 per ton, shrinking by -4% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 an increase of 7.6% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,446 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to March 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,700 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($1,652 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In March 2024, the average export price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $4,180 per ton, falling by -13.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 19% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,105 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to March 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In March 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Latvia ($4,266 per ton) and Estonia ($4,075 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($3,865 per ton) and Ukraine ($4,026 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strip of Thickness Exceeding 0.2 Mm in Lithuania
In 2022, approx. 9.2K tons of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms were imported into Lithuania; which is down by -9.6% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 10K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, imports of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms expanded rapidly to $43M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 60%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
