In March 2024, the average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $4,563 per ton, surging by 2.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 7.4% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,108 per ton. From September 2023 to March 2024, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was the UK ($12,294 per ton), while the price for China ($3,106 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
