In May 2024, the average export price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $3,802 per ton, growing by 7.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In May 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices to Australia ($4,358 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($4,203 per ton), while the average price for exports to Myanmar ($2,957 per ton) and Colombia ($3,051 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In May 2024, the average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $3,520 per ton, surging by 4.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,610 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to May 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($5,076 per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($2,980 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strip of Thickness Exceeding 0.2 Mm in Thailand
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms decreased by -0.3% to 242K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 243K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, exports of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms soared to $943M in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
