Price for Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strip of Thickness Exceeding 0.2 Mm in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2024
In March 2024, the average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $3,845 per ton, growing by 2.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,535 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to March 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,855 per ton), while the price for Croatia ($3,139 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Price for Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strip of Thickness Exceeding 0.2 Mm in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2024
In March 2024, the average export price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $4,290 per ton, growing by 2.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2023 when the average export price increased by 124% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $9,587 per ton. From January 2024 to March 2024, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In March 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices to Austria ($5,180 per ton) and France ($4,445 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($3,790 per ton) and Italy ($4,143 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strip of Thickness Exceeding 0.2 Mm in the Czech Republic
For the fourth consecutive year, the Czech Republic recorded growth in supplies from abroad of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms, which increased by 8.9% to 171K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, imports of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms surged to $752M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Exports of Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strip of Thickness Exceeding 0.2 Mm in the Czech Republic
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms decreased by -5.6% to 44K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 31%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 47K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, exports of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms stood at $220M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
