The average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms stood at $5,491 per ton in December 2022, with an increase of 28% against the previous month. Over the last eleven-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($19,462 per ton), while the price for China ($3,463 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
