The average import price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s stood at $3,366 per ton in November 2023, with a decrease of -1.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 6.9% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,357 per ton. From February 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($4,332 per ton) and Germany ($3,765 per ton), while the price for China ($3,044 per ton) and Turkey ($3,305 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s amounted to $3,173 per ton, declining by -4.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $6,273 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($6,009 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($3,015 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s decreased by -30.8% to 21K tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 10%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 31K tons, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s reduced to $88M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $102M, and then contracted in the following year.

In general, exports faced a significant contraction. The smallest decline of -7.7% was in 2021.
In value terms, exports of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s declined remarkably to $944K in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 2% against the previous year.
