The average aluminium; powders and flakes import price stood at $3,568 per ton in 2022, which is down by -8.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,101 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,059 per ton), while the price for Japan ($2,499 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average aluminium; powders and flakes export price amounted to $3,229 per ton, increasing by 4.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium; powders and flakes export price increased by +24.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 37%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,458 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($27,801 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($1,030 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 3.5K tons of aluminium; powders and flakeses were imported into South Korea; waning by -7.8% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 3.8K tons, and then shrank in the following year.

Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +19.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 769 tons, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium; powders and flakes exports declined significantly to $1.8M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 89% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $2.4M, and then fell significantly in the following year.
