In July 2023, the average aluminium; tubes and pipes import price amounted to $2,762 per ton, dropping by -49.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 113% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7,422 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($6,211 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,980 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In July 2023, the average aluminium; tubes and pipes export price amounted to $11,953 per ton, dropping by -4.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 96% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $15,971 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($20,628 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($8,121 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Algeria (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Portugal
In 2022, the amount of aluminium; tubes and pipeses imported into Portugal soared to 4.9K tons, growing by 39% against the year before. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.3% against 2020 indices.
