Price for Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Belgium (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average aluminium waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,684 per ton, rising by 2.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.2% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,963 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($2,312 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,084 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Luxembourg (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average aluminium waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,331 per ton, which is down by -5.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 13% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,910 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($2,577 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($727 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Exports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Belgium

Aluminium waste and scrap exports from Belgium contracted to 359K tons in 2022, which is down by -7.1% compared with 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $360M, and then fell in the following year.
