Price for Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Latvia (FOB) - 2024

In March 2024, the average aluminium waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,991 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,460 per ton. From July 2023 to March 2024, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In March 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Estonia ($2,185 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,139 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,762 per ton) and Germany ($1,846 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In March 2024, the average aluminium waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,774 per ton, with an increase of 3.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,874 per ton. From August 2023 to March 2024, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was Finland ($2,384 per ton), while the price for Sweden ($1,516 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Exports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Latvia

In 2022, approx. 17K tons of aluminium waste and scraps were exported from Latvia; rising by 19% against the previous year's figure. Overall, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +22.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +83.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
