The average aluminium waste and scrap import price stood at $993 per ton in February 2023, waning by -12.6% against the previous month. Over the period from February 2022 to February 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,136 per ton in January 2023, and then reduced in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,406 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($371 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In February 2023, the average aluminium waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,682 per ton, jumping by 73% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. The export price peaked at $2,465 per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to February 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1,883 per ton), while the average price for exports to China stood at $1,560 per ton.

From March 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Pakistan

In 2022, the amount of aluminium waste and scraps imported into Pakistan fell to 150K tons, with a decrease of -13.5% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
