In 2022, the average andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite import price amounted to $565 per ton, growing by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite import price increased by +38.9% against 2019 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($899 per ton), while the price for the United States ($458 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($645 per ton), while the average price for exports to China amounted to $306 per ton.

In value terms, andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite exports fell markedly to $121K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a precipitous setback. The smallest decline of -18.6% was in 2020.
