In January 2022, the average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes amounted to $1,095 per ton, increasing by 5% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2021 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,096 per ton in January 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to January 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Italy ($1,169 per ton) and Argentina ($1,112 per ton), while the price for Spain ($963 per ton) and Chile ($1,059 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $902 per ton in 2022, dropping by -9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,340 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+53.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
