The average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,223 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 34%. The import price peaked at $1,583 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Greece ($1,541 per ton) and Lebanon ($1,176 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,175 per ton) and Syrian Arab Republic ($1,175 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $997 per ton in 2022, dropping by -7.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,083 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Saudi Arabia ($1,058 per ton) and Palestine ($996 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($996 per ton) and Sudan ($996 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in Egypt
