The average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,182 per ton in 2022, increasing by 1.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 20%. The import price peaked at $1,269 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were South Africa ($1,219 per ton) and Turkey ($1,201 per ton), while the price for Austria ($1,175 per ton) and the United States ($1,175 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
