The average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,858 per ton in March 2023, which is down by -7.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 14% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,000 per ton in February 2023, and then declined in the following month.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,942 per ton), while the price for Chile stood at $1,433 per ton.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.8%).

The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $2,954 per ton in 2022, jumping by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, apples, pears and quinces; fresh export price increased by +84.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,007 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of apples, pears and quinces; freshes, when their volume decreased by -5.6% to 20K tons.
