The average import price for apricots, cherries, peaches (including nectarines), plums and sloes, freshes stood at $4,878 per ton in September 2023, declining by -17.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 122% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $8,248 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($11,350 per ton), while the price for the United States ($2,922 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+40.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, the export price, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 77% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $5,772 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($3,303 per ton), while the average price for exports to China totaled $3,082 per ton.

From March 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+8.3%).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 67%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.6B, and then dropped in the following year.
