The average import price for apricots, cherries, peaches (including nectarines), plums and sloes, freshes stood at $4,878 per ton in September 2023, declining by -17.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 122% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $8,248 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($11,350 per ton), while the price for the United States ($2,922 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+40.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
