In July 2023, the average import price for apricots, cherries, peaches (including nectarines), plums and sloes, freshes amounted to $2,010 per ton, dropping by -17.8% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a strong expansion from March 2023 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.9% over the last four months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, import price for apricots, cherries, peaches (including nectarines), plums and sloes, freshes increased by +54.9% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 53% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,447 per ton in June 2023, and then fell sharply in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,562 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($795 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2023 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+25.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for apricots, cherries, peaches (including nectarines), plums and sloes, freshes stood at $405 per ton in 2022, picking up by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 117% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,249 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,587 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($311 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+23.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 17K tons of apricots, cherries, peaches (including nectarines), plums and sloes, freshes were imported into India; picking up by 56% against the year before. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of apricots, cherries, peaches (including nectarines), plums and sloes, freshes surged to $34M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a remarkable increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
