The average export price for artificial staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinning stood at $2,984 per ton in December 2023, declining by -2.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 2.5% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,294 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($3,806 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($1,848 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In December 2023, the average import price for artificial staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinning amounted to $2,147 per ton, dropping by -3.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,479 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($13,420 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($1,815 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 28%.
In value terms, exports of artificial staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinning totaled $169M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +49.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
