Price for Blankets and Travelling Rugs in Spain (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average blankets and travelling rugs import price amounted to $7.4 per unit, dropping by -2.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a perceptible expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 833% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $100 per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($13 per unit), while the price for China ($6.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In August 2023, the average blankets and travelling rugs export price amounted to $14.8 per unit, dropping by -4.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated mild growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, blankets and travelling rugs export price decreased by -37.9% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 96% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $23.9 per unit in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($54.4 per unit), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($9.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+16.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Blankets and Travelling Rugs in Spain
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of blankets and travelling rugses, when their volume decreased by -14.5% to 8.7M units. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 454%. Imports peaked at 10M units in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, blankets and travelling rugs imports declined sharply to $64M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $77M, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 102%. The exports peaked at 3.3M units in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, blankets and travelling rugs exports shrank to $45M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $49M, and then contracted in the following year.
