Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in China (FOB) - 2023

The average books, brochures and leaflets export price stood at $2,899 per ton in June 2023, declining by -3.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,267 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($4,053 per ton), while the average price for exports to Panama ($2,024 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average books, brochures and leaflets import price amounted to $22,060 per ton, increasing by 5.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 16% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $25,802 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($37,672 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($11,254 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Exports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in China

In 2022, exports of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter from China expanded slightly to 379K tons, picking up by 2.4% against 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 20%.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports expanded rapidly to $1.2B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
