Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Croatia (FOB) - 2022
The average books, brochures and leaflets export price stood at $4,326 per ton in 2022, surging by 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 38%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $9,182 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($7,934 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($3,298 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average books, brochures and leaflets import price amounted to $4,596 per ton, dropping by -12.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 58% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,525 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($27,382 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($1,617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Croatia
In 2022, approx. 5.7K tons of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter were exported from Croatia; with a decrease of -8.3% on the year before. Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +40.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 53%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 6.2K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports rose modestly to $25M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +54.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 3.7K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets imports fell to $14M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 18%.
