Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Italy (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average books, brochures and leaflets export price amounted to $4,644 per ton, rising by 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 18%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($6,802 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($2,622 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average books, brochures and leaflets import price stood at $10,658 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 11% against the previous month. In general, the import price enjoyed slight growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 91% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $17,375 per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($25,859 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,022 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Albania (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Italy
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter, when their volume decreased by -6.4% to 120K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 129K tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports expanded markedly to $559M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets imports dropped markedly to $173M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1.6%.
