Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Latvia (FOB) - 2024

In April 2024, the average books, brochures and leaflets export price amounted to $4,042 per ton, reducing by -11% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2023 when the average export price increased by 19% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,073 per ton. From December 2023 to April 2024, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($5,982 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($3,424 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In April 2024, the average books, brochures and leaflets import price amounted to $8,211 per ton, rising by 25% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The import price peaked at $8,742 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to April 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was France ($21,402 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,655 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Latvia

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter decreased by -0.5% to 33K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 33K tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports reached $128M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
