Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Lithuania (FOB) - 2024

The average books, brochures and leaflets export price stood at $4,302 per ton in April 2024, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,372 per ton. From August 2023 to April 2024, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was the UK ($10,649 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($2,395 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average books, brochures and leaflets import price stood at $8,550 per ton in 2022, surging by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $12,208 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($16,952 per ton), while the price for Poland ($3,483 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Exports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Lithuania

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter decreased by -21.1% to 12K tons in 2022. In general, exports showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 15K tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports fell slightly to $47M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $49M, and then declined modestly in the following year.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter decreased by -16.3% to 747 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated moderate growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -29.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 57%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets imports shrank to $6.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 21%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $9.1M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
