Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
In December 2021, the average books, brochures and leaflets export price amounted to $3,031 per ton, reducing by -4.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2021 when the average export price increased by 14% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,546 per ton in December 2020; however, from January 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($8,186 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($706 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average books, brochures and leaflets import price stood at $7,252 per ton in December 2021, which is down by -5.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2021 an increase of 37% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $8,605 per ton. From September 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($14,614 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1,454 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Malaysia
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter, when their volume increased by 15% to 23K tons. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous decrease.
In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports soared to $74M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a abrupt descent.
