Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Serbia (FOB) - 2022

The average books, brochures and leaflets export price stood at $4,396 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 59%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,885 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($10,699 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($2,566 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average books, brochures and leaflets import price stood at $10,141 per ton in 2022, which is down by -4.8% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, books, brochures and leaflets import price increased by +57.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 59%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $10,651 per ton, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($20,516 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($2,740 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Serbia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter, when their volume decreased by -13.7% to 5.5K tons. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 8% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 6.4K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports stood at $24M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
