In December 2023, the average export price for bovine animals; live, other than pure-bred breeding animalses amounted to $3,998 per unit, flattening at the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 2.9% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,151 per unit in March 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to December 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($4,662 per unit), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR totaled $3,917 per unit.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Macao SAR (+0.5%).

For the third year in a row, China recorded decline in overseas shipments of bovine animals; live, other than pure-bred breeding animalses, which decreased by -12.8% to 13K units in 2022. In general, exports showed a precipitous decline. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at 60K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of bovine animals; live, other than pure-bred breeding animalses dropped to $53M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 3.2% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $59M in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
