The average braids; in the piece import price stood at $19,176 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 80% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $20,592 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($23,067 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($5,184 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 44%. The export price peaked at $22,818 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($68,850 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($5,690 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to El Salvador (+40.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
