In 2021, the average export price for briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals amounted to $1,052 per ton, reducing by -40.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 336%. The export price peaked at $1,777 per ton in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($98,750 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($319 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2016 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+107.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals stood at $548 per ton in 2021, shrinking by -26.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $767 per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,156 per ton), while the price for Lebanon ($407 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Saudi Arabia recorded growth in overseas shipments of briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals, which increased by 123% to 28 tons in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1,810% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals soared to $19K in 2022. Overall, exports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 1,030%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
