In 2022, the average export price for buckwheat, millet and canary seed; other cerealses amounted to $919 per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $929 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were France ($1,142 per ton) and Italy ($1,045 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($784 per ton) and Latvia ($788 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+18.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,340 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,431 per ton), while the price for Poland ($725 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
