Price for Butter and Dairy Spreads in France (CIF) - 2023
The average butter and dairy spreads import price stood at $5,707 per ton in July 2023, rising by 6.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild slump. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $7,134 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Denmark ($6,216 per ton) and Belgium ($6,145 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($5,040 per ton) and Poland ($5,443 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average butter and dairy spreads export price stood at $7,694 per ton in July 2023, falling by -2.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 4.4% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8,013 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($9,972 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($5,715 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Butter and Dairy Spreads in France
In 2022, butter and dairy spreads imports into France expanded markedly to 205K tons, surging by 7.2% compared with the previous year's figure.
