Price for Butter and Dairy Spreads in the Dominican Republic (CIF) - 2023
The average butter and dairy spreads import price stood at $8,695 per ton in March 2023, leveling off at the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $11,713 per ton. From December 2022 to March 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from France ($9,952 per ton) and Denmark ($9,784 per ton), while the price for Poland ($7,648 per ton) and Spain ($9,163 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Butter and Dairy Spreads in the Dominican Republic (FOB) - 2022
The average butter and dairy spreads export price stood at $4,673 per ton in 2022, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 201% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $8,997 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($28,085 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($670 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Butter and Dairy Spreads in the Dominican Republic
In 2022, supplies from abroad of butter and dairy spreads decreased by -19.3% to 414 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 112% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 665 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
