The average buttermilk and buttermilk powder export price stood at $2,042 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 1.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 7.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,135 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($2,832 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,602 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average buttermilk and buttermilk powder import price stood at $944 per ton in 2022, growing by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,026 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
