In August 2023, the average export price for buttons; of base metal, not covered with textile materials amounted to $26,325 per ton, with an increase of 3.6% against the previous month. Over the last nine-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $28,184 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($32,317 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sri Lanka ($17,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+21.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
