The average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $115 per ton in January 2024, surging by 12% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The import price peaked at $156 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($139 per ton), while the price for Argentina amounted to $108 per ton.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+1.7%).

In 2022, overseas purchases of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds decreased by -7% to 5.3K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -20.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 6.6K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds reached $845K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $986K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
