In October 2023, the average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,717 per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 22% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,784 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for France amounted to +9.4% per month.

In October 2023, the average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $869 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds decreased by -15.2% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 31% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,025 per ton. From July 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($1,705 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($323 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds into Poland shrank dramatically to 30K tons, reducing by -57.5% on the previous year. In general, imports saw a precipitous descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 14%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 70K tons, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds reduced dramatically to $23M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a sharp downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $81M, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 90K tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, exports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds dropped sharply to $48M in 2022. In general, exports recorded a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 16%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $58M, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
