Price for Cabbages, Cauliflowers, Kohlrabi, Kale and Similar Edible Brassicas; Fresh or Chilled in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023

In November 2023, the average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,985 per ton, falling by -7.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 an increase of 115% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,462 per ton. From September 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,813 per ton), while the price for Poland ($993 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Albania (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $393 per ton in 2022, jumping by 27% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds increased by +39.9% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 30%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($237 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Ukraine recorded growth in supplies from abroad of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds, which increased by 176% to 52K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds soared to $33M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
