In 2022, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $5,377 per ton, dropping by -16.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, camel and other animal meat import price decreased by -41.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $9,237 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($6,289 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($943 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
