In December 2023, the average import price for carpets and other textile floor coverings; tufted, whether or not made ups amounted to $9.3 per square meter, with a decrease of -5.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $10.4 per square meter in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($10.0 per square meter), while the price for Egypt ($5.0 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In December 2023, the average export price for carpets and other textile floor coverings; tufted, whether or not made ups amounted to $17.2 per square meter, growing by 29% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a mild expansion from December 2022 to December 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2023 figures, export price for carpets and other textile floor coverings; tufted, whether or not made ups increased by +49.5% against September 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 44% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in December 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($28.1 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($5.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, Germany recorded decline in supplies from abroad of carpets and other textile floor coverings; tufted, whether or not made ups, which decreased by -0.2% to 62M square meters in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. Imports peaked at 71M square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of carpets and other textile floor coverings; tufted, whether or not made ups fell to $488M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 2.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at $552M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
