In December 2023, the average import price for carpets and other textile floor coverings; tufted, whether or not made ups amounted to $6.9 per square meter, growing by 8.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 36% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $7.6 per square meter in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($24.1 per square meter), while the price for Egypt ($1.7 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
