The average import price for casein, caseinates and other casein derivatives; casein glueses stood at $11,926 per ton in August 2023, growing by 8.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $14,238 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($25,935 per ton), while the price for France ($9,179 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price showed a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $11,252 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($4,104 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($2,033 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
