In June 2023, the average import price for cereal flour; of maize (corn) amounted to $1,036 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 46% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,046 per ton in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to June 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,635 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($512 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, cereal flour; of maize (corn) export price increased by +60.0% against April 2023 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
