Price for Cereal Flours; Other than of Wheat or Meslin in Spain (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for cereal flours; other than of wheat or meslin stood at $617 per ton in October 2023, growing by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 an increase of 60% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $744 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,808 per ton), while the price for France ($311 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for cereal flours; other than of wheat or meslin stood at $622 per ton in 2022, dropping by -3.8% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for cereal flours; other than of wheat or meslin increased by +62.1% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $647 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($840 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($532 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Gambia (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
