Price for Cereal Grains; Rolled or Flaked, of Oats in Ireland (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for cereal grains; rolled or flaked, of oatses stood at $2,028 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 5.8% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,139 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were South Korea ($2,471 per ton) and the United States ($2,222 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,833 per ton) and Spain ($1,868 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+11.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period from December 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 51% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,834 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,833 per ton), while the price for the UK ($1,512 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
