In 2022, the average export price for cereal grains; worked (eg hulled, pearled, sliced or kibbled) of maize (corn) amounted to $465 per ton, with an increase of 29% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for cereal grains; worked (eg hulled, pearled, sliced or kibbled) of maize (corn) increased by +66.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $525 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($547 per ton), while the price for Kenya ($373 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
