In November 2023, the average import price for cereal grains; worked (eg hulled, pearled, sliced or kibbled) of oatses amounted to $607 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 8.6% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $737 per ton. From March 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the United Arab Emirates ($714 per ton) and Australia ($616 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($545 per ton) and the UK ($560 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In general, the export price continues to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 79% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($5,832 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bhutan ($1,482 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka (+32.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
