Price for Cereals; Barley, Other than Seed in Brazil (CIF) - 2024

In September 2023, the average import price for cereals; barley, other than seeds amounted to $406 per ton, surging by 3.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 an increase of 5.5% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $432 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($469 per ton), while the price for Argentina amounted to $392 per ton.

From May 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (-0.2%).

In 2022, the average export price for cereals; barley, other than seeds amounted to $1,824 per ton, growing by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 1,047% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,438 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malta ($2,611 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($1,037 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malta (+126.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
