Price for Cereals; Grain Sorghum, Other than Seed in India (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average export price for cereals; grain sorghum, other than seeds amounted to $410 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $455 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($501 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($325 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for cereals; grain sorghum, other than seeds stood at $38,357 per ton in 2022, growing by 4,471% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Nigeria.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Nepal amounted to -1.2% per year.
